Lan Pya Kyel
Lan Pya Kyel (LPK) is non-profit, non-political and non-religious local organization committed to promoting social welfare among key populations in Myanmar, including men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender (TG) women, and sex workers (SW). Lan Pya Kyel focuses on providing essential information, services, and resources aimed at preventing HIV/AIDS, TB and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Lan Pya Kyel aims to enhance the health of key populations by preventing the transmission of HIV and STIs, diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB), ensuring that our services address both physical and mental health needs of key populations. Lan Pya Kyel delivers a full cascade of HIV prevention and support services and TB diagnosis, particularly targeting FSW, MSM and TG women. In addition, LPK set up the separate space; “Ma Baydar” for TG women to provide HIV prevention, care and support services.
Operating across (27) townships among five States/Regions in Myanmar through eight key population service centres (KPSC), Lan Pye Kyel provides free clinical services that encompass counseling, testing, and referral for HIV, TB, STIs, reproductive health services, and mental health support. Through our unwavering commitment, we strive to create a healthier future for our communities and empower individuals to lead quality lives.
LPK Board
This Board Charter is subject to the provisions of the LPK Constitution, the Deconsolidation Agreement (DA) and any other applicable law or regulatory provision and is in accordance with the Association (s) Registration Law (No. 31/2014) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Each and every board members must put aside their personal and professional interests when representing on behalf of the organization.
Role of the Chair Person includes
(i) Setting and approving the board meeting agendas;
(ii) Leading board meetings and ensuring the minutes correctly reflect the meetings;
(iii) Providing leadership and promoting cohesive, effective teamwork by the Board;
(iv) Ensuring the Board is meeting its functions, duties and responsibilities;
(v) Ensuring proper Board delegations, reporting and monitoring systems;
(vi) Reviewing the composition and effective working of the Board;
Role of the Executive Director who has been appointed by the board includes
(i) The Executive Director is accountable to the Board.
(ii) The Executive Director is responsible for carrying out the operational and administrative functions of the Board, coordinating all Board business and assist in ensuring compliance .
(iii) The role of the Executive Director is to carry out the strategic plan of LPK including: identifying projects on the needs of the community that should be supported, liaising and communication with key stakeholders including donors and the community and coordinating with the various counterparts to ensure the integrity and success, finding funding opportunity for the sustainability investments and fundraising efforts, foresee the risk and prepare the mitigation action that will have minimum impact on the organization and represent the organization at both national and international
Role of Secretary are as follow:
(i) The Secretary is responsible to support the Executive Director to carry out the operational and administrative functions of the Board, coordinating all Board business and assist in ensuring compliance.
(ii) Preparing, compiling and distributing agendas and Board papers;
(iii) Preparing, maintaining minutes of Board meetings and followin g-up on action items;
(iv) Ensuring the necessary paper work and resolutions are effective for change in the composition of the Board, and any changes required to be submitted to the members
Role of the key Board Members are as follow:
(i) Attend the meetings and actively participate in the meetings
(ii) Coordinate with Executive Director and other board members
(iii) Support to recruit new members
(iv) Ensure that the organization comply the legal obligations
